Catching up...

I am so busy these days clipping coupons and sewing, (basically becoming the best domestic goddess I can be) I never find time to blog. Here are some pics of my time with the kids and my parents in SLC during Spring Break.

They have a very cool planetarium there and there is no charge. Hawkins was in hog heaven! All the kids really enjoyed it!

You could give the weather forecast just like a real weatherman. Probably about as accurate too!
I think the kids favorite part was this giant elevator! A hummer could have fit in there!
The kids walked on the moon!
And then on Mars!
We also went to the children museum. There was a ton of stuff for the kids to check out. They loved playing in this helicopter!
Scotlyn's favorite was playing in the water! She is such a water baby!

Hawkins the cowboy with brother Mostyn watching.
Claire is really getting into rock climbing! She's done it a couple of times at the Y.
There are a ton more things to share, but I'll just do a little at a time. We have been a very busy little family lately. I'll try to be more on top of postings. April is a crazy month with Mostyn, Scott, and Scotlyn's birthdays and our anniversary! So much to share!

Stick a fork in 'er

Cuz she is done!!!
BEFORE
AFTER
Finally, my couch is done. I know I said I wanted to have it done by the end of February, but darn it, February was a short month, and I got sort of side tracked by another project that I will share at the end of this post. Anyway, I have had my sewing machine for almost a year, and now it has finally been broken in. I am really pleased with the way the couch turned out. As long as no one inspects it too close then it's all good. I mean, how many of us go to sit on someones couch and start looking at the stitching and such? I take that back. When you know the couch has been reupholstered, then you totally start studying it! (I did when I went and sat on Heather's reupholstered couch! It looks great though!) I learned a lot from this project... including what a pain zippers can be! I was going to recruit some sewing masters help, but decided I would get much more out of it if I did it on my own. I did get lots of info from the sewing master though. Thanks Lisa!
So, now I am on a sewing spree! I love it! Primarily because of this other project that I just recently finished. (The one that distracted me from getting my couch done sooner) I made this skirt for Scotlyn!
Isn't it adorable! My friend Angie made one for her daughter, and said she would show me how to do it. We actually got a group of gals together and we all decided to make these skirts for our little girls. Everyone chose different colors. I might have to do another one in pink or something!
This was so fun to make! Especially doing it with a great group of friends. Some of whom had never sewn before, just like me! I love all the ruffles! I want to start putting ruffles on everything!
I have started working on another skirt for Ms. Scotlyn! As soon as all the other gals get their skirts done, we are going to work on some cute little dresses for the girls! I can't wait!!!

Are you a Bachelor fan?

A couple of us true die-hard Bachelor fans got together Monday night to watch the season finale! Will he pick Vienna or Tenley?
Here we are posing for the camera. Now that I think about it, we should have all come dressed in cocktail dresses! However, I did spend most of my time sitting on the floor next to all the delicious goodies, so maybe it is better we went casual.
Vienna sausages! You gotta love it!
Tenley-or dip. (ten layer dip)
Since Jake the Bachelor is a pilot, you must have airplane food! Peanuts and Pretzels!
Fantasy Sweets... delicious brownies and cupcakes! Mmmmmm!
Here is a display of the food! You can see the martini glasses on the side for "cocktail hour"!
Here I am with the Hostess with the Mostess, and three of her kiddos. Gotta give her big smooches for all her hard work! Thanks Lisa!
And thanks Amy for the pics!

Out of the mouth of "BABES"

Yesterday after church, Hawk and I were busy making pudding. He has become quite the little helper in the kitchen lately. Anyway, he says to me, "mom, what's a babe?" For a moment I am stunned. I am thinking, what is his dad teaching him when I am not around! So I ask, "where did you hear that word?"
"In a song at church," he says.
Oh, okay. So I say, "a babe is a baby."
"I don't think so," he says.
Our conversation ended there because we got busy licking the bowl from our pudding. Later that night I attended a church meeting where I sat next to Hawkins primary teacher. I was telling her about our talk about babes, and she confirmed that indeed they had been singing a song about "a new born babe". So, when I get home from my meeting I tell Hawkins that I had talked to his teacher and that the "babe" he heard in the primary song means a baby. He says to me, "well, it doesn't mean that any more!"
"Okay," I say, "so what is a babe?"
"A person you marry," he announces.
I immediately burst into laughter, and look over at Scott who is a few feet away listening to the conversation. He had the biggest "that's my boy grin" on his face I had ever seen!
A little later that night I ask Hawkins, "so, are you a babe?"
"No!"
"Am I a babe?"
He blushes and grins a big grin. "Yethththth!" (thats a yes with the lisp in full effect, which makes it even sweeter!)
My boy can be a pill sometimes, but he always makes me laugh and smile! Reminds me of his babe of a father! ; )

My Pity Party: Part Two. .

Well, if you read my last post, then you might have picked up on the fact that I am feeling a little inadequate! I might have to subtitle this blah, blah, blog with "the rantings and ravings of a lunatic"! I feel like a bulimic who has stuffed herself with all this food (but in my case, it's yucky feelings) and the only way to feel better is to vomit! And you lucky people get to be here to read my vomit... so to speak.
This week, I just have felt like running away. And the fact of the matter is that as long as I have a place to stay and take the kids with me, then I could run away. But would that suddenly make things better? I wasn't wanting to run away from my husband; though, he probably wouldn't mind a little time way from his looney wife right now. Running away isn't going to help, cause it would be like trying to run away from my annoying, smelly, siamese twin. (this is a metaphor. i don't actually think i am smelly or annoying, though after this post, i might rethink the annoying bit.) Anyway, the point is, I can't run away from myself.
I knew I was feeling depressed lately, but I think I finally realized why. I have done nothing of importance in the last year. The year previous to that I felt like I had accomplish a lot. I was a supervisor at work, I gave birth to my fourth child... who was nine pounds by the way! Hello! I managed to take care of myself and four kids for five months without my hubby. I don't know how those military wives do it. And I packed up our home, got it rented, and moved a thousand miles away!
What have I done in the last 12 months? My mother-in-law would probably say that I drove around San Antonio like it was nothing. I say, thank you GPS. I did paint some dresser drawers.
Woohoo! I am about half way done reupholstering a couch. If I get that done, then that could be something.
Being a stay at home mom and wife is hard! I am so grateful that I am able to be at home with my kids, but somehow it seemed easier when I worked. And, when I worked I was still home with the kids during the day. I need to DO SOMETHING.
Yes, I am stressed and depressed. I have lost 10 lbs since the new year, and I wasn't trying. My face is breaking out like some kind of teenager. Note to mom: if you mention my broken out face again, your skype privileges will be revoked!!! Only kidding mom! I love you.
I guess that is enough ranting and raving for now. Thanks for reading/listening... I probably lost half of you after the first paragraph. Oh well. I purged for the day. And if I offended any bulimics, I am sorry!
P.S. If you read my last post about the bumpit, I have to mention my friend who told me she rocks her bumpit everyday, and pats her stomach! : )
